Message from the President
WHEN YOU BELIEVE
“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.” – Christopher Reeve
I have been blessed. I have been presented with an opportunity to work shoulder to shoulder with a team of dynamic humanitarians—who are human beings first and doctors, scientists, geniuses, care givers and entrepreneurs second. Our mission is clear: To cure cancer.
We build with each other. They say the sum is worth the total of its individual parts. We believe our sum is worth far more than each of us alone. Our mission has a life of its own. We have been assembled by a force far greater than any on earth. We are a group of individuals from all over the globe who believe it is our duty to use the gifts we have been individually given to serve mankind.
We believe in the process. Our mission is grand, but we will not allow it to dissuade us. Our approach has been questioned time and again, yet we continue to make progress. When a path is presented, we follow down that path. We have accomplished more in ten years, and with ten percent of the budget, than anyone else in our industry. We operate under the radar because we choose integrity over profit, and we want to provide a proven medicine before we make promises.
We have witnessed miracles. We have helped cancer patients recapture the quality of life that they experienced prior to the ravages of chemotherapy. We have seen grandparents hold their first grandchildren. We have seen a dad coach Little League Baseball for one more season. We have listened to a daughter speak of memories of her father that she had because he lived for nineteen months instead of the six months he was projected to live after diagnosis. We have watched pain-ridden, emaciated souls return to fulfilling lives with family, friends, passion and love.
We will prevail. Have we saved them all? No. Have we changed the course of their lives and given them moments of grace that they otherwise would not have had? Yes. Have they changed the course of our lives? Definitely. You cannot witness human suffering and loss without being deeply moved. So, we will continue to be human beings first and develop this medicine for all those in need. We will not focus on the distance yet to travel, but will continue to focus on the next step if our journey. We fully intend to change the way cancer affects all of our lives, and we intend to change the approach—piece by piece—until the puzzle is complete. We have collectively summoned our will and it is inevitable.
Please join us in changing the face of cancer, one life at a time.
